E-mail sent with details of OWPA vote to postpone Fall 2020 season to Spring 2021
Good Afternoon Everyone,
Just got off an OWPA conference call in which a motion was placed on the floor to cancel the fall season and move it to the spring. There was a second and then discussion ensued. Lots of talk about player safety and restrictions by OHSAA at this point. Lots of unknowns from the coaches as well as they are depending on their ADs and the OHSAA for guidance.
The vote passed; therefore, the 2020 fall season has been moved to the spring. That season is tentatively scheduled for March 1 - May 30.
With that, Greg, Doug and I will be working as a leadership team to talk about how that affects what we are doing and our plans for the spring season. We will still be having an annual business meeting at some point before Christmas. At that meeting, we will be discussing the upcoming season, potential changes to our structure and support, and we will need to elect the treasurer's position.
I'd like to try and get together as a group of referees to do a few outings of sorts this season. Maybe it's just a cookout, golf, camping, or something like that. I will be in touch about the training at Sam's. That's likely just to be a cookout/social at this point. Might move weekends depending on availability, etc. We will reschedule our training to a more appropriate date closer to the start of the season.
