OWPRA Shoot Out Procedures

In the event referees need to conduct a shootout, we have a detailed instruction sheet here.

A Quick Reference Guide is below.

  1. Captains’ Meeting to decide which team shoots first

  2. Referee to shooter’s side aligns shooter at 5M / Referee on goal line moves goalie accordingly (Floating Goals = head on goal line / Wall Goals = hips on goal line)

  3. Shooter Referee raises hand when shooter is ready, goal line referee next raises hand when goalie is ready

  4. Shooter Referee immediately lowers hand and whistles at the same time

  5. If goal line referee signals goal, shooter referee whistles goal

  6. Alternate shooters for 5 shooters per team

  7. If still a tie after 5 shooters per team, immediately return to first shooter and sudden victory if one team does not match the other.

**Reminder, goalies can now participate in shoot outs
