Annual Rules Test, 2010

The completion of this test does not qualify you automatically for membership in OWPRA. If you are interested in joining OWPRA, you can find an application (with instructions) at OWPRA's web site.

Although this test is modeled after and many of the questions were taken from the "NCAA Referees Rules Test," this is not a test for certification as a USAWP or CWPA referee.

The test is based on the current (2010-2011) NFHS (NISCA, high school) water polo rules and the Ohio High School Water Polo Rules and Policies (these are the rules we will be using for the upcoming water polo season). A copy of the current rule book has been mailed to those of you who have paid your OWPRA membership fee for 2010. As of the date this test was published to OWPRA's web site, NFHS had not published any documents summarizing the new rules for this year or comparing last year's rules with this year's rules.

Please read the following policies regarding this test and assignments for the 2010 water polo season:

  1. If you wish to be considered for assignment to either of the Regional Tournaments or the State Championships, your test must be received for grading no later than Friday, August 20, 2010.
  2. Once your exam is received, it will be graded, and you will be notified of your grade by e-mail.
  3. You may take the test more than once. However, your score on the first test that you submit for grading will be used to determine, in part, your membership level (and assignments) in OWPRA.
  4. A key to the correct answers will be sent out by e-mail on or about August 21, 2010. If you have not submitted your test by that time (and paid your dues), you might not be assigned to any games during the season.

Unless indicated otherwise, you should assume that the questions in this test apply to a game that is played in a pool of regulation width, length and depth. The test is "open book." Be sure to read all of the possible answers for a question before answering the question. Note that all 50 questions must be answered (or you'll receive an error message).

For each of the following questions, select the best correct answer. For the true/false questions, if any part of the statement is false, then the correct answer is false (i.e., the entire statement must be true for the correct answer to be true.)
